    Activities for Baby 2-4 Months

    activities for baby 2-4 months

Help baby in his/her development by doing these fun activities! Not only will she learn to communicate but also help her grow and develop her motor, personal and social skills. In the early months of baby, parents play a big role in each aspect of her development, physically, emotionally, mentally and socially. It is the first months that marks the most in building the foundation of her skills. In my previous post, we discuss activities for your newborn, now that she is growing fast she will need more things to learn!

    DEVELOP COMMUNICATION

Your new bundle of joy communicates through her body movement. While she grows and develop, as a parent you learn that each specific movement means something. Just like when she look or stare, whines, shout or cries. Although baby will enjoy different kind of sound within your household, your voice will always be her most favorite music, it will be the most comforting music in her ears. It is also important that you spend a quiet time together for she has to learn and enjoy each of the family voices too.
These are great ideas I wanted to share with you since it has been very effective for me and my baby. Develop her communication while enjoying special moments with her!

    1. Music and Me

Hum or sing a song every baby’s meal time, during bath, exercise or even changing. Allow some precious time looking at your baby’s face and her watching your face as you sings her a song. Establish a connection with your baby through the song, include baby’s name in the song every now and then.

    1. Make Face

It’s always delightful to see baby’s smile, make funny faces that he/she likes and when she smiles, do it again! Tell her how funny she is and how beautiful she is when she smiles!

    1. Precious Talk

Talk to your baby when she’s awake, especially when she’s all in the mood to look at your eyes and giggles. As she sees your face, cuddle and hold her closer to you. Introduce different kinds of animal sounds and encourage her to do the same, this way you are both communicating and having a conversation.

    1. Enjoying Books

Reading time is essential for baby, showing her colors from different pictures in the book or magazine will be very interesting for her eyes. While she sees all those things, talk softly and share story about it. Soon baby will learn that reading time is very special.

    1. Hello, hello Telephone

Your little wonderer will be curious at all things specially with sounds and light like when your phone rings and lights up. She will be amazed and be interested listening and watching you while you talk on the phone. Hold baby close to you and look at her, she will think you’re talking with her or your talking about her and that she’s special.

ACTIVITIES THAT ENHANCE FINE MOTOR SKILLS

By this time you notice that baby is learning to be more focus on things like how she looked on objects and to other things around her. In due time she will be able to follow her eyes as you move an object in front of her or as you move around her. Unlike before when baby was just a newborn, her fists were closed all the time but around this months she will learn to grasp your finger and hold on tightly.  These following months she is beginning to be aware about her environment and the world.

    activities for baby 2-4 months

    1.  Little Finger Hold and Grip

As baby grab your finger and hold a grip on it, gently tug a little to let her know that she’s holding your hand and that she’s growing strong everyday!

    1. Reach and Grasp

It is important to put baby lying on a firm surface so she can be able to learn the skill of crawling. But during this time she can learn the ability of reaching to things, offer baby an object or a toy to reach and grasp. You will be amazed by her excitement as she move her arms while trying to reach that object.

    1. Gentle Touch

Give baby’s little toes and fingers a gentle touch or massage. Rubbing her little body parts with lotion or baby oil will make it very special. Baby will surely enjoy the feeling, it will relax her and she will feel being comforted too. Also, it will help her learn about her body.

    1. Little Hand Sweet Kisses

During baby’s meal time, hold her hand and kiss her little fingertips. Let her touch your lips, if she’s not yet doing it at this age, encourage her to touch it so that soon she will learn how to aim her finger towards you.

    1. Baby Tug

Hold any clean cloth like washcloth or a ribbon for baby to grasp and slightly tug the other end. Praise her how strong she is and let her win the game.

  • Muir Woods National Monument, Mill Valley, California

Muir Woods National Monument, Mill Valley, California

August 19, 2018 marks the 11th month birthday of our little princess and to make this day very special we planned a trip to one of the most popular destination near San Francisco. We took a hike to the amazing heritage of redwoods in Muir Woods National Monument in Mill Valley. In this post you will expect a story of an amazing adventure, be excited to discover Muir Woods precious gems and be amazed how these gems preserved itself for over a hundred to thousand years.

Muir Woods National Monument is very famous tourist destination near San Francisco thus a crowd of tourists visit this place everyday. We made a parking reservation online a week ahead of our visit, parking fee was $8, this is a requirement for all vehicle riders. There’s also a shuttle reservation available on their website.

    Pre-trip Preparation & Traveling

We prepared ourselves before driving off to Muir Woods. A short background was really helpful, we’ve known the weather condition so we dressed up right for it, we had our jackets and rubber shoes ready for the cold and the hike! We got our packed food and drinks although food is not allowed inside the park proper, there’s a picnic area allocated for visitors outside visitor’s center prior entrance to the park.

Traveling with an infant needs more than just packing, as parents we need to make sure that we have everything with us and these were basically her necessities including her outdoor essentials. And since this trip was going to be a long hiking and trekking, a baby carrier was the one on top of my baby’s list. For more baby’s outdoor essentials, check my previous post just for reminders on what to bring in case you’re up for an outdoor activity!

We wanted to have a whole day adventure so we decided to leave home as early as 6 in the morning. Traveling to San Francisco early in the morning was less hassle since there was less traffic and we got to see some beautiful sights like sunrise along the way, from Vallejo it only took us about 30-40 minutes to get there. The road going to Muir Woods was a little bit scary, it was narrow and stiff that’s why RV’s or vehicles longer than 35 feet are not allowed or permitted.

Arriving at Muir Woods National Monument

We were very fortunate to book our parking reservation in advance, we parked few distance away from the entrance gate of the park. There were number of tourists in the parking who were also busy preparing themselves for the hike, some are couples, group of teenagers, families and kids even grannies were there too. There were shuttle buses also parked near the main entrance of the park.

We headed to the entrance gate just  to see if they have a picnic area where we could take our breakfast first before the walk and hike. Unfortunately, the park doesn’t have a decent picnic area, only few wooden tables and benches in the open walkway.

Food is not allowed in the park proper and we were not comfortable to set all our packed food to the tables in the open walkway so we decided to get back in the parking and eat in the van instead. It was not really convenient and not allowed but we had a great time eating our breakfast together.

After the lovely breakfast we headed back to the park and pay the entrance fee in the visitor’s center which happened to be a souvenir shop as well. There was also a 3D model map of entire Muir Redwood Forest that can be found in the middle of the open walkway going to the visitor’s center.

Admission fees: $10 for adults 15 yrs.old and older, while younger than 15 is free.

Muir Woods Redwood Forest (The Park Proper)

The ancient giants of Muir welcomed us as we walked through the gate of Muir Woods National Monument. Redwood trees stood tall and huge in the atmosphere of Muir. The scenery was so lovely and perfect, it was serene and peaceful. Here at Muir Woods, nature never really failed to amaze me with its unique and endless beauty! As an immigrant in U.S, it was my first time to see redwood trees, I was stunned of how these giants grew enormously big and how they survived over a hundreds to thousand years!

There was a long paved wooden trail, boardwalks for visitors to walk through. There were a lot of people yet it was not crowded. We stopped by to some spots where a ranger talked about the forest and shares facts about redwood trees. It was fun and informative that even our baby who was seated in her stroller smiled and clapped her hands as everybody clapped after the talk. Walking through the wooden trail was smooth and easy, it was stroller friendly too. But when we’re about to take a slope and took a hike into the woods, our baby needed to be in the carrier or be carried by one of us. It was not advisable to bring the stroller to that area because it was a rough road but we managed and it was not that bad.

Redwood trees stood like the tallest guards of the forest. Its body was big and the bark which is the skin of this tree was thick and solid. The trunk of redwood trees grew so tall which makes the branches and stems be hidden all the way up in the fog. There were also some fallen trees and some trees that has burned black marks in its bark. Some trees has big holes in the middle of its trunk like big doors where you can pass to the other side or take pictures as if you’re inside the tree.

Some has big burls which at first we thought were bee hives or something made by insects and some has green algae in its bark.

We’ve seen small bridges (4 in total) that crosses to the other side of the loop, this is the way if you want to take a little adventure, a route for hiking. Muir has three trail options which are easily accessible from the main trail and these are the half mile, one mile and two mile loop. It all depends on your stamina how far you can hike.

    BEST TIME TO VISIT

Plan ahead and travel early in the morning. The earlier you get there, the better! Better chance to enjoy the serenity of nature early in the morning and get the most out of your adventure! Less people and more time!

    WHAT TO WEAR

In the morning, its still foggy so a little bit cold, its best to wear sweater’s or jackets, wear comfy rubber shoes and pants for the hike!

    WHAT TO BRING

Its helpful to bring some food and drinks with you in the car in case you get hungry but be reminded that food is not allowed in the park. You can eat in the car before venturing out to the woods or after the whole day of hiking or get some snacks to the small cafe they have in the park!

If you can also download ahead of your visit the Booklet about Muir Wood National Monument, it would be a plus. You will learn all facts about redwood tress and the environment ahead of time or you can get a copy of it in the visitor’s center if you’re already in the park.

When traveling with babies or infant, stroller and carrier is a MUST!

    FOR THE MEMORIES

Aside from the bunch of photographs you will surely take inside the park, don’t forget to stop by the souvenir shop/ gift shop, there are lots of wood carved souvenirs or shirts with redwood tree prints!

  • Indoor Plants That Are Easy To Grow

Indoor Plants That Are Easy To Grow

    indoor plants

When I decide that I needed some green plants in my house my first option was to buy some artificial ones. I had not been good with plants in the past. I had tried gardening and I had killed all my plants or I ended up handing over the lives of those plants to my mom (who loves gardening) and she tried to revive them. It was pretty clear that I wasn’t at all good at planting or anything that had to do with that matter. I was terrible at going outside in the morning and water them or I’d just forget about them. That is why I thought artificial ones would do the job inside, I mean, you buy them, place them where you want them to be and you’re set! So I ended up buying a few of those fake ones and for a while I was content with the way they had transformed the rooms of my house. They looked ok for the most part. But still, I wasn’t totally convinced.

One day a friend of mine gave me a baby of her spider plant. At first, I was dubious that I would keep that plant alive, but she assured me that those kind of house plants are so easy to take care of. I loved the way hers looked in very well decorated pots and she had three of them on her window sill, all which had little babies dangling on the side. They were gorgeous, but I doubt I would ever get mine to look that nice. I took the chance, I placed the baby plant in a glass of water in my kitchen counter top  next to the sink. Those green leaves with stripes of white in the center of each leave looked so nice in my kitchen. One of my problem with plants is that I am not patient, and I believe that is one of the factors that I disregarded them because most of the time you have to buy them when they are small, and it takes forever for them to grow to a desired size. I would look at my baby spider plant every day hoping to see a root sprout out in the water. I wanted it to sprout a bunch of roots in a day! that’s how impatient I was.

After a few days I gave in and decided to just let it be, I decided to be happy to just have the leaves look as nice as the first day I got the plant. I learned to enjoy it just the way it was with or without roots because honestly the plant made my kitchen look good. For a whole week every day it looked the same, until finally after what seemed like forever at the bottom of the small plant a root appeared. I felt hopeful and proud that I had not given up on it. I learned to be patient and as though the little plant had taken that as a cue many more roots appeared, soon I found myself buying a nice pot for it. Spider plants are just wonderful indoor plants that are easy to grow.

    spider plant

Here are a few other plants that I find easy to grow

    Aloe Vera

    aloe vera

I love my aloe Vera plant, I recently got it and it is thriving. It has some long healthy leaves that shoot from the sides. Also, it makes me happy to see new leaves appear from the center. It makes me feel like I am doing something right even though it barely requires any effort to take care of. I have cut a few of the leaves already to use it for burns and rushes and so far it has done a fantastic job healing my wounds. I couldn’t be any happier with this plant.

    Peace lily

    peace lily

I have this one in my dinning room placed on a corner where it gets just enough light. I got this peace lily because it is considered as one of the beginner plants. It has dark green leaves and white flowers. Some new leaves are uncurling from the bottom part of the plant along with a lot of new little flowers. I feel like this plant and I still have to get to know each other a little bit but we’re getting there. The older leaves have brown tips so I am trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. I am going to stay resilient, this plant is worth the effort.

    Pothos

    pothos

Every plant lover has one of this plant. Every time I went plant shopping I couldn’t get my eye off of it. The reason I didn’t get it right away is because they were always in hanging plastic pots and as for now I am not ready to make holes in the ceiling. So I kind of just saw them as hanging plants instead of the kind that you can just put in a pot and place it on a side table. It might sound a little ridiculous that I waited until they were available in the regular plastic pots but that’s what I did. This plant did not disappoint me, it looks stunning in its blue pot and I can’t wait for its stems to appear and start trailing.

    Succulentssucculent

These guys are awesome, ever since I discovered them I have been obsessed. I have been asking people for cuttings or leaves, and I have been propagating them. I only bought one to start with, which got a little out of control because I placed it in a low light place. The stems elongated leaving big gaps between the leaves which lead to me taking the plant apart. I had to strip all the leaves off the stem and then cut the small rosettes of the tip and planted them in a different pot. Currently, I am propagating the leaves and a few already have little plants.  Propagation takes long, it literally took a month or so for some roots to appear. I am enjoying learning more and more about succulents

Needless to say, my house is full of plants at the moment. I am loving the process of taking care of my plants. Not only are they making the inside of my house look beautiful but some of these plants are air purifiers, so they are pretty good for the health. These plants add beauty, color and provide a very relaxing environment. I am learning about my plants every day. I think I am doing a good job so far because I haven’t killed any and I don’t plan to.

  • Budgeting During Infancy

    Budgeting During Infancy

    budgeting during infancy

The excitement to provide everything for your cute little one is quite overwhelming, it can be a difficult responsibility for new parents to deal with expenses. Parents usually ask the same question when it comes to spending money, “ How can I pay my needs?”, “How about my wants?”. In this post are some pointers to help you with financial expenses through suggested strategies of budgeting during infancy that you may want to consider as these helped and worked for me and my small family.

IS IT A NEED OR JUST A WANT?

Necessities are the essentials in life that you need to buy, while some other things are considered as wants, things you could live without.

    • Take into note what will it cause you when you buy that particular item.
    • Maybe you still need to buy something more important, why not use the money for that?
    • Save as much as possible, find some ways to get that item without spending too much.
    • Make a list and write your needs as your top priority.

    CREDIT CARDS

Use credit cards wisely, know the benefits and the risk of using it to avoid any trouble with debt. Consider the following:

    • Know your limits, know how much you can pay every month and set your expenses on how much you can afford.
    • Only use credit cards with big purchases. If it’s small purchases it is best to use cash or debit cards.
    • Use credit cards when needed and when it will be very beneficial for you such as in education, home or a loan.
    • Pay your balance in full or pay more than the minimum amount to avoid trouble with debt.
More importantly, always pay on time.

    PROS:
    1. You can earn rewards, rebates, points or cash back.
    2. You can use it almost everywhere.
    3. It is very convenient to use than bringing cash or checks.
    4. You can build credit history.

    CONS:
    1. Very easy to spend money more than you should.
    2. Charges such as interest and late fees will cost you a lot of money.
    3. Irresponsible spending can lead into debt.
    4. Withdrawals might be expensive.
    5. Bear all these in mind so you can balance and manage all your expenses with your credit cards.

    MONEY MANAGEMENT

It is wise to list every income and expenses you make every month to keep track of your money and to always remind you of your priorities. It is best to set a particular list of your monthly necessities after listing all your income for the whole month. Examples of these are groceries which include food, clothing, diapers, formula etc., or expenses with child care as well as monthly home bills from utilities, transportation, insurances and the like. Keep all your receipts and bills and then do all your calculation every end of the month so you know where your money is going.

Planning and budgeting are essential keys in order to meet your baby’s needs or your family needs. There are ways on how to save money or money saving ideas that are proven to be very effective in lowering down the cost of expenses. Listed here are some money saving ideas that worked for my family.

    • Food:
      – Take advantage to weekly sale ads of stores and make a complete shopping list of what you really need before going to the store. This is to avoid not so important things that you might be tempted on buying.
Consider buying store brands or generic brands, they are less expensive and sometimes they are as good as name brands.
      – Be creative with leftovers, find ways to create something special out of it.
      – Prepare meals from home and take it as pack food instead of eating out.
      – Make meals that are less expensive or don’t cost a lot.
    • Clothing:
      – Check-out thrift stores or garage sales, sometimes they have cheap quality items gently used or even new ones. Baby will grow fast and buying new clothing in full price is very costly and it’s not really practical.
      – Buy baby’s clothing in a bigger size or a little bit bigger than his/her fitted size so that it can be worn for long or while baby is still growing.
    • Utility Bills:
      – Remember to turn off appliances which are not in use. Turn off lights when leaving a room or turn off fan when there’s nobody using it.
      – Take short showers rather than a long bath.
      – Avoid services you don’t use most of the time or you no longer need such as phone and internet services.
      – Use fluorescent light bulbs that will last longer rather than cheap quality ones.
    • Others:
House Cleaning: Use all purpose cleaner for its very suitable to use in almost all types of cleaning in the house. Make a DIY cleaning products and make use of the basic products you have at home such as baking soda and vinegar to clean surfaces or even newspaper to clean windows.
Recreation: There a numerous local parks and local public libraries that you could visit for free. It could be a fun experience for you and your kids. Have a community calendar too, it features free family events.

Be on top of your priorities as you go through the life of parenthood and be smart on managing your household finances. One of the best advice I can give is to cut your expenses, lower down your lifestyle, balance your budget and find more ways how to increase your income.

How about you how do you manage your household finances? I want to hear from you in the comments!

Babies are naturally born smart, as early as being a newborn they can be able to communicate, even though they couldn’t actually speak or babble words but they have their cues as signals of what they want or what they actually need. Crying, gurgling and wiggling are ways how baby communicates.

When baby looks and stares at you she’s actually communicating as if she’s saying “I love you, thanks for taking care of me” and soon your heart will be filled with joy when she smiles!

communication ACTIVITIES FOR BABY 0-2 MONTHS

    1. Embracing and Humming a sweet tune – Baby loves the feel of your warm hugs and cuddles, she simply loves your smell and feel your body close to her. She also loves to hear and feel your sweet voice in a soft hum of a song.
    2. Sweet Happy Talk– In some moments baby seemed to be smiling, this is the time you can have a sweet talk and a happy conversation about that smile as you smile right back at her. “Wow is that a smile for mommy? Or is that for daddy? Look at that smile, so pretty!”. In a few months or just even weeks, soon your baby will give you a real smile and even giggles a laugh!
    3. Wiggles to Burp– Sometimes baby is frowning and feels uneasy, this might be a sign that she needs to burp. Hold and bring her to your shoulders and gently tap her on her back or massage her body saying the sweet words of comfort: “Just a little burp and you will be fine my little angel”.
    4. Voice Familiarization- When baby starts to cry and you’re out of sight, with a sweet voice tell her that you can hear her and that you’re just around to help her soon. By then she will learn that she’s never alone and your voice will assure her that soon you’ll come for the rescue.

    MOTOR SKILLS

Developing the motor skills of your little one is an important part of her brain and muscle growth. There are two kinds of motor skills, the fine and gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are the small movements of baby’s muscles, movements from certain parts of her body like her fingers and toes while gross motor skills are the big movements that she can make using the large muscles of her body like the arms and legs.

    -Fine Motor Skills Activities

As you may notice baby’s little hands are usually in close fists and if you try to put your finger in in between those little fingers, you will be amazed how strong those cute little hands can exert that strength of grip. But as she grows, as part of her development she will eventually relax her hands, be curious of things around her and be interested of touching anything she can hold or reach.

fine motor ACTIVITIES FOR BABY 0-2 MONTHS

    1. Hold and Tug Cute Little Hands– Play with baby when she’s relaxed and rested, try to put your finger in baby’s fist. When she made a grip slowly pull or tug baby’s hand, you’ll be surprised when she holds on and won’t let go. Then talk about it with her, how strong she is and it would be lovely if you sing her a song while playing hold and tug.
    2. Happy Touch– Let baby touch and feel different textures from different things. Make sure that these items will be safe for her to touch and grip. Examples of these things are soft fluffy stuff toys, wet and dry wash cloth, smooth scarf or anything from hard to soft or smooth and rough ones. This will help her learn things about the environment and the world.
    3. Gentle Skin Massage– After you clean baby perhaps after a refreshing bath, give her a gentle massage with lotion or baby oil, from her cute little finger in her hands to her little toes. Then make a sweet conversation with baby about what you’re doing.

    -Gross Motor Skills Activities

Time flies so fast and baby will grow rapidly everyday and as she grows, you will notice how she learns to relax her closed fist, limbs and legs that are normally held so tight in her body when she was young as a newborn. Soon she will learn to move her legs to kick and when her neck is already strong, she will try to lift her head as well.

gross motor ACTIVITIES FOR BABY 0-2 MONTHS

    1. Pull Open & Close– When baby is relaxed and awake like after a shower, hold her little hands and gently pull her arms away from her body or chest making a wide open arms. As you sing in a sweet melody of how you’re doing it, pull her arms closed again, and do it again. “Open and close, open arms wide then pull them close again baby!”. Don’t forget to praise her how well she has done it, “you’re doing a great job baby, strong arms!”.
    2. Kiss that Little Toes– Play with baby’s little feet and her little toes. When she is laying down on her back, put her feet together and kiss the bottom of her cute soft feet and toes. Try to tickle and see if she smiles, if she does, no doubt she’s having fun! Make a little bubbling sound into her toes and tell her words about how wonderful those feet are and how beautiful she is.
    3. Relaxing Bath Time– Take a little time for an extra massage during baby’s bath. Gently rub her little arms and limbs, tummy and bottoms. Might as well talk to baby as she learns about her body and feel your comforting love.

    SOCIAL & PERSONAL SKILLS

Your sweet little one is fully dependent on you right now. She needs you all the time, for food, warmth and safety. Baby doesn’t know how to speak yet but she communicates through her eyes, by looking at you and using her voice. As you interact with her and responds to all her needs she begins to know you and trust in you. She will enjoy the company of everybody in the family, being held all the time by everyone but as a parent you are the most important person in your baby’s life.

social ACTIVITIES FOR BABY 0-2 MONTHS

    1. Sweet Smile Cute Face- Every time you do a task with baby like feeding, changing diaper or bathing, always give her the sweetest smile you could. For a newborn, a smile is just a reflex but sooner as she grows in few more weeks, she will give you a real smile back and it will be the most wonderful sight!
    2. Mealtime Shared Moments– During baby’s mealtime whether she’s nursing or drinking in a bottle, look at your sweet baby with eye contact and touch her little face from her forehead to her eyes, cute cheeks, little ears and tiny lips.Tell her that she’s the sweetest thing that all that she is, is wonderful and that she’s unique and loved so dearly.
    3. Look Tiny Hands– Talk to baby about her body, from her tiny feet and toes to her cute little hands and fingers. For baby everything she sees is interesting and that she will stare at it for long and wonders. “Look at your hands baby, whose hands are those? “look at your fingers! Look at that cute little toes!”.
    4. Understanding Baby Cues– Newborns have their cues to communicate. These are their ways to interact like for instance, baby cries for a different reasons, either she’s hungry, bored, cold or feeling hot, tired or she just wants to be held. Pay attention to each cry and hear the difference so that you can respond to her needs immediately.
    5. And Then After– You will have your routine daily activities with baby and it’s important to share it with her as you tell her what’s going to happen next.”It’s eating time.”, time for sleep.” or time for a bath.” In this way, you will help baby learn it as she grows.

Your newborn will grow very fast and each day you spend with her in her youngest days is a sweet memory to treasure. It is truly a fulfillment when you get to see how your baby develops and learns about life. She might still be very young right now to respond to all the things you do but very soon she will understand each of them and she will begin to smile showing how she appreciates it.

These are the activities I’ve tried with my baby and I am very happy to share it with you, hoping that these will work for you as how it did with us.

Which of these activities have you tried with your baby? Or if you have tried more than what I listed here or have more ideas in mind, kindly share it with us in the comment.

  • A Mother’s Day Special : Looking back to My Pregnancy Journey

A Mother’s Day Special : Looking back to My Pregnancy Journey

    banner

It is finally the month of May and I am so excited! Why? Because in this month we will celebrate Mother’s Day and it will be my very first Mother’s Day celebration with my little one. Being a new mommy is quite challenging but indeed a very rewarding experience, to witness one developing soul grow each and every single day is such a great joy.

I did celebrate Mother’s day last year when I was still pregnant but my baby was just few months in my tummy before so I didn’t really feel the spirit of motherhood yet. But I could say when I am at my final stage of pregnancy where I felt a lot of changes in my body, the hardship and the pain of labor, I started to realize that being a mommy is truly a gift and a blessing that should be celebrated once in a mother’s life.

    (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Let me share with you my journey to the final milestone of pregnancy as this month will be dedicated to all the mothers in the world. It is such a sweet memory to remember the time when we conquered all the challenges that pregnancy brought to us for that special gift of new life and a new blessing of our family.

Third Trimester: The Journey to Final Milestone of Pregnancy

Little baby in my belly started to be mature and rapidly growing as I’ve gone through the final months of pregnancy, starting from 28 weeks until the final week. My pregnancy has been a tough start with all the sickness I’ve felt before but as I’ve gone through my final weeks I’ve felt many changes from my body to my growing baby in my belly bump and it was quite a challenging shift. As I’ve felt more of baby’s lively movements such as kicking and stretching, I knew that that was the most fun stage of pregnancy despite all the uneasiness I’ve experienced physically. My excitement boosted up each day especially when I observed some changes in my belly bump.

There was a common saying that every pregnancy is unique but there are quite common symptoms that can easily be noticed among preggy moms. I could say that when I’m in the final trimester of pregnancy, I got a little over with exhaustion from being sick but the feeling of pain from my bones got more and more intense as my belly had grown even bigger.

The progress of pregnancy and the changes I experienced on my third trimester to my final weeks.

    • Peeing much more than I peed before during my 1st and 2nd trimester. Specially during night and in the middle of my sleep 3x at least.

    • Insomnia. Difficulty of sleeping. It was very difficult to even twist my body from one position to the other side, I felt like my back bones were cracking and my body organs inside my stomach were twisting too.

    • Very itchy belly, it’s definitely true that once you scratch to feel relief, it would be an instant scar. As much as I’ve hold myself from scratching I still got myself some scar like they called as stretch marks.

    • Cramps and pain especially when lying. I felt leg cramps sometimes when I wake up in the morning.

    • Baby’s movements were already visible even without touching my belly, just by observing my belly bump in my fitted dress.

    • Baby’s movements got more painful especially her big skeletal movements pushing in my flesh and bones.

    • Baby was more active with a lot of movements during the day now, no matter what activity I’m doing.

    • Feeling hungry most of the time, probably every 2 hours. I used to eat small snacks more often to satisfy my hunger for me not to feel nauseated and dizzy.

    • Got tired fast and easily gets exhausted when picking up stuff or just by standing from a long time sitting.

    • Getting off the car was very difficult I felt some pain on my pelvic bone like baby is pushing unto my bones when I push myself out and without any outside support.

    • Less constipation but experienced diarrhea sometimes.

    • More exposed belly button,yay!

This was also the time for certain laboratory tests like diabetes screening (OGTT) and dental check.up appointments.

Progression through the final stage of pregnancy means preparation of things for baby delivery as well. From the hospital bag, baby’s necessities and everything about being a true mother of a newborn. The joy of excitement was real when we started buying baby’s stuff and arranging them one by one so neatly in her own space in our cabinet. Despite all the discomforts from the pains and the exhaustion from all the difficulties I’ve experienced, the happiness we felt when we first saw baby was truly genuine.

    mommy & mia

I hope to relate this special pregnancy journey of mine to some other moms who are experiencing this right now and to all moms all around the world. Dear moms, I congratulate you for being strong with all the sacrifices you’ve gone through from pregnancy to raising your kids to the best that you can.

Truly, mothers are all kinds of amazing!

I would love to hear your story and share some great experiences on how you handled it from the very beginning to the final stage until you finally had your cute little one.

  • Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk- A Must Place to Visit in Santa Cruz, California

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk- A Must Place to Visit in Santa Cruz, California

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is an oceanfront amusement park in Santa Cruz California. It is a seaside charm in Santa Cruz where fun and relaxation are all in one. Its wide sand beach and roaring waves are truly amazing. The amusement’s park’s lights, rides, games and music are lively and inviting especially during holiday season like Christmas, where in  during night time they turned on all the Christmas lights around the place.

From San Mateo going to Santa Cruz, it took us 2 and a half hours of travel including time where we’ve been stuck in traffic and when we had to stop in a restaurant for lunch. Mia loved traveling, she’s not fussy and she really behaved well during the entire travel. The movement of the car or the van easily rocked her to sleep all the time and when it stops she felt it and she wakes up.

    THE BEACH

We went directly to the beach when we reached the boardwalk. It has a wide sand and we had to carry Mia in her stroller to the sea side. There were birds flying around and it was a little bit crowded but we still got our own space to sit and enjoy the beach. It was a very lovely afternoon for we got to see the sunset while relaxing and enjoying the ocean waves. Mia really loved the sound that it makes. I held her in my arms as we sat in the sand and she winked every time the natural light struck her eyes. She looked at the waves and wondered about the sound, how I love to see her cute face when she gets too focus on a specific thing. Later on after some time she fell asleep and she slept long until we went back to the van.beach

    THE AMUSEMENT PARK

We took some time to visit the amusement park before we leave. It was an old school kind of amusement park not as modern and big as the new amusement park you know nowadays. There were old type of rides and arcades including treats, you can choose any of your preference which one will you go to have fun. We played few arcades and won some toys and picture frames. Prices were reasonable and the place was little crowded during our visit so we didn’t really stay long to play for more.

ridesOne of the rides in the amusement park.

One attraction here too is the roaring camp train, Santa Cruz beach train was full of decors and lights when we visited because it was during the season holidays. During this kind of season, a lot of people were visiting and wanted to enjoy riding this train so booking or getting your tickets online will be much more convenient.

    TRAVEL TIPS:

    1. If you’re looking for fun and relaxation all in one place, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a good choice to pick. But you may want to visit early so you can enjoy both the amusement park and the beach on the same day and the place gets crowded later on during the day.
    2. The beach was so refreshing especially when you come during sunset so if you prefer it more than in an amusement park then it can be the best time for a visit. Bring something that can be your mat in the sand so you can sit and relax the rest of the time of your visit.
    3. If you’re more a fan of games and arcade, always checked online about their hours base on time of your visit especially during holidays and some occasions.

We really recommend this place especially for family like us who really do enjoy being outside our home, to have fun and relax in one place at the same time. It is also best to come in the beach during the season where the temperature is getting warmer like spring and summer. If you’re in the area or even just a traveler then Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is worth a visit. You may not be a person who love arcades and amusement park but love the beach more, or the other way, I’m sure you can still have an amazing time here just like we did. It’s for all ages!

Have you been in a place like  this before where you can enjoy a beach and have fun in an amusement park all at the same time? Share it in the comment please!

  • 6th Month Old Photoshoot: Baby Mia’s Milestones

6th Month Old Photoshoot: Baby Mia’s Milestones

Today She is  Little and Each Milestone She Reach is A Moment to Treasure

    Mia with flowers

Mia, our little baby tasted her first food! Yes, about a week or two ago, she reached her 6th month old birthday and we got very excited when she tried her first food which was a vegetable puree, a carrot baby food. Not only this but she had her first sip of water too, had her first walker, first little shoes and most importantly she had met her first friends as well! These huge moments are milestones of her growth and development everyday. In our lives, us parents get very excited every time we witness each special moments with her. These experiences are very unique for us being a new parent.

“Cherish each moment while she’s still young, “ enjoy each days from the laughter and cries”, “days and years go by so fast and before you know it, they’re already on their own and for sure you’ll miss them”.

Usual phrases I hear from experienced parents and read a lot in parenting articles. Now that I’m on that stage of motherhood, I definitely can say that each days with my baby is a treasure, I nurture each single milestones that she reached and will be reaching more in the future.

I remembered everything happened just yesterday. When I held her the very first time in my arms, a tiny little 6 pounds baby sharing a skin to skin moment with me. Today, she can roll over in the bed and giggles a laugh. Just yesterday, I was just breastfeeding and nursing her in the middle of the night but today, she can reach my hand and put my fingers in her mouth. Everything’s happening so fast and I just wish that time slows down a bit so I can have more time to enjoy her as a baby.

Though I want to enjoy her youngest days, as a parent I am very happy and grateful to see that my baby is growing healthy and happy.

“One day she will be on her own but not at this moment, not today.”

I and my husband made sure to capture each of our baby’s milestones from pictures to videos and took numerous family photos while she’s little as she is now.

We had fun last time we had our baby’s photoshoot, it happened just in front of our house. Since we got pretty flowers in our own yard, we thought it would be perfect location for a photoshoot, it’s more convenient for us that we didn’t have to go to a park or in any place and besides it’s the most especial place where we want to be.

Our thoughts of things to consider before doing the photoshoot were all met that day, from the weather condition to Mia’s mood. It was definitely a perfect sunny day and our baby Mia was in a great mood, she was smiling and she was very playful, touching things around her and giggles to whatever sound we make. I hope you all will enjoy this pictures of our baby as she happily engaged with all her pose in this photoshoot.

Today is the present, I know time goes by so fast but I can embrace what it is now and not the past,  live each moment to the fullest and embrace each days of her youngest year. These will be a lovely part of our memory together, her childhood and our memorable journey to parenthood.
