  • RePLANET & Recycle Vallejo

    RePLANET & Recycle Vallejo

Recycling is not a new term for all of us, it’s the process of segregating our waste into different types or kinds whether  it’d be organic or inorganic, plastic, metal, glass or paper and sort them out to reuse again.  It’s one of the  best way to care for our environment and a resolution to our over consumption.

Here in Vallejo, we have the RePlanet facility wherein people of the community can take their empty plastic bottles and glass bottles to sort them out for recycle in exchange of some money.

    SORTING

It is done by segregating the bottles into big plastic containers. The workers of the facility will then take the containers to weigh them inside and after few minutes, you’ll be given a piece of paper indicating the amount of money equivalent to the weight of all the bottles you have. The bottles were put in a big machine where recycling begins.

    PRICING

It’s amazing how the RePlanet facility maintains the environment of their workplace. Although its a recycling facility, the workers were organized and the place wasn’t that bad. I also believe that the price equivalent per pound was just fair and not very cheap, what more can you ask for right? Making money with your trash and taking care of the planet Earth.

    RECYCLING FACILITY

    PAYMENT OFFICE

As responsible people, us mankind should take a big leap in doing actions for our environment! Our lives depend on the planet we live in, we should take care of it for our own sake and for our future generations. God has blessed us this wonderful planet, if we continue to abuse all it’s wonders and destroy it’s beauty, will there still be life for your future family? Think about it, this is just a simple act of concern for your environment, if I can do it, you can to or you can do way better than this!

  • Banana Blueberry Bread for St. Patrick’s Day

Banana Blueberry Bread for St. Patrick’s Day

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

As an Asian, I myself didn’t really have any idea what this day is all about until I came here in the U.S, where people celebrate this occasion with a lot of green stuff all around the place. So what is it really about? It is a celebration of Irish culture, given the credence to the death of Saint Patrick,  the patron saint who brought Christianity in Ireland. There are a lot of ways how people celebrate it here in United States but one thing for sure there will be parades, a lot of green stuff and special food!

For this special day, I decided to prepare a Banana blueberry bread for my family that you can also try at home. It’s quick and easy and nothing too complicated recipe. You don’t need to have an electric mixer to make this bread, just a bowl, a fork or spatula and measuring cups. Ingredients are simple and probably you have it on your fridge!

    Ingredients:

    3-4 pcs. Ripe Bananas

    1/3 cup Melted Butter

    1 Large beaten eggs

    1 tsp. Baking soda

    1 tsp. Vanilla

1/2 or 3/4 Sugar ( this depends on how much sweetness you want for your bread)

    1 1/2 cup Flour

    1 cup Blueberry

After you have gathered every single ingredients, start pre-heating the oven and set it for 350 degrees. Prepare a baking bowl, greased it with butter so the bread won’t stick to the surface. After then, you can start with the simple and easy procedure.

    5 Step Procedure:

    1. Mashed the bananas.
    2. Add all the remaining ingredients except the blueberry.  Then mix.
    3.  Add the blueberry and slowly fold it in the batter.
    4.  Pour the batter in the greased bowl or pan.
    5.  Bake for 1 hour.

    Baking tips!

    • It’s best to use overripe bananas like the ones that have black skin since these are the kind that give the sweetest flavor. No need to put a lot of sugar and you’ll get more of the natural flavor of the banana.
    • You can use a spatula for mixing the batter and for transferring into the baking bowl so you can scoop every single bit of it. But if you don’t have any, a fork or spoon will do!
    • Fresh blueberries are also the best to use but frozen once are good too, just wash and thaw it before you pour unto the batter.

Let it cool for a 5-8 minutes before slicing!

Cracks are good signs that it’s well baked.

    Slice and serve! Enjoy!

How’s your St. Patrick’s Day? Did you prepare anything special for your family to celebrate this special occasion? Let me know!

  • Taking A Stand: An Essay from the Short Story “The Day It Happened”

Taking A Stand: An Essay from the Short Story “The Day It Happened”

“Some people prefer to bury themselves in sorrow, succumb to the pain of hurled rocks that life throws at them, but others stand up and fight back.”

In the short story, The Day it Happened, author Rosario Morales encompasses an issue that many women in different  communities encounter in their lives which is domestic violence. Morales unveils the story of a couple who had been married for six months and were already in a pattern of countless abusive fights. She crafts the story of the protagonist Josie, a character who takes a stand for herself and decides to abandon her marriage for her own wellbeing and for the baby growing in her womb. The story’s, plot, settings, point of view, style, and dilemma convince the reader to absorb the essential theme of the story which is that one should never tolerate domestic abuse.

In the exposition, the twelve-year-old girl narrates in third person the story of the protagonist Josie as she tries to break free from her husband, Ramon, who is the antagonist. The setting of the story is in an apartment building around 1992 somewhere in New York city. The plot begins with the background story where the narrator details that, at first, Josie would not admit there was anything wrong with her marriage; she was in denial. In her mind, she had married the ideal man, and she justified his bad behavior and bad temper by saying “He can’t help himself. He doesn’t mean it.” (Morales 75). The author deliberately mentions through her simple writing style that there were other men in the apartment building who were aggressive to their wives as well. For instance, “Joe who liked to bully his wife” or “Tito who talked all the time about ‘wearing the pants in the family’.” (75). This portrays that other women sympathized with Josie, but they felt powerless to help because they could not even help themselves. This is an example of the internal dilemma that women face.

Women in abusive relationships feel embarrassed and retain that struggle and pain within themselves until they start to believe that there is nothing wrong with their marriage. Through the background story, the author manages to show to the reader that Josie was not the only one going through a tough marriage but that there were others and many of those women had gathered to witness a life changing event that was about to happen when Josie decides to pack up her suitcase to leave and wait in the taxi to break the news to Ramon.

It was indeed the gathering of the onlookers that gave a hint to the audience the rising action of the story, “We streamed out the door into the small crowd that had gathered by now” (75).  It was a spectacle to the neighbors, most likely because nothing like this had happened before. No woman had had the courage to swallow their fear and confront a man that treated them as if they were an item of possession. At five o’clock, Ramon strolls down the street, he avoids the crowd and keeps his eyes fixed on his shoes as he walks. He does not look up until he hears Josie call his name from the crowd.

The climax begins when everyone notices as Ramon’s expression changes when he hurls himself at Josie and grabs her leg; how he suddenly looked so vulnerable as if all the strength that made him strike like a lion before, had transferred to the “cute,” “small” and “plump” woman that was now standing before him. She was no longer afraid to look straight into his eyes, she was no longer a victim of a lost battle but rather a survivor. She spoke with confidence and told him that she was leaving him. Ramon, upon realizing Josie’s intentions burst out into tears and asks for forgiveness. Josie probably felt a tinge of sadness for him and she probably could have taken his apology and forgive him, but he had done enough damage. Men like Ramon do not change, and Josie knew that.

The story descends with the falling action. Ramon reluctantly lets go of Josie’s leg as Olga, the neighbor, emerges from the crowd and kneels down with him to convince him to let go because there was nothing for him to do. Josie was not the little girl that he knew, the girl that he constantly bullied and took advantage of.  Josie finally is liberated from Ramon’s grasp something that symbolizes her bravery and strength. She was not a fragile woman anymore, rather she was a responsible mother who had to put her child first. This leads to the resolution, where Josie gets in the taxi and tells the driver to drive off. The women in the apartment building surly felt different because they had seen Josie walk away from her abuser. They know it can be done. Or if anything else, the men probably treated their women a little better because they knew that like Josie they could walk away. An act of bravery from a woman is all that needed to happen for other women to reassure themselves that they are not alone in this fight. They understood that they were not the problem; just as Ramon told Josie when she was leaving “you are young, you do not understand” (76) at that moment Josie could have relinquished to his words but instead she remained adamant.

    REFLECTION

Author Rosario Morales successfully manages to deliver a strong message of hope for women around the world through her use of plot, settings, point of view, style and dilemma. She instills a sense of strength in women who are experiencing domestic abuse but also in little girls like the twelve-year-old narrator that witnessed Josie as she stood up to her bully husband. Throughout history, women have been depicted as weak individuals, deprived of their rights and treated unfairly. That is why it is important that stories like The Day It Happened exist and continue to empower women who find themselves in any situation where their rights as human beings are violated. This story speaks truth and it illustrates that domestic abuse should not be tolerated in any way.

  • Feeding Your Toddler

    Feeding Your Toddler

    Feeding Your Toddler

Most mommies like me often wonder about what kind of food to serve at the table for our family everyday especially to our toddlers! They are in this stage where they begin to be “picky”, refusing certain type of food. Toddlers go through this phase and when this happen, it doesn’t mean you should stop giving her that certain food but instead try to offer it again in the next few weeks or keep offering if you need to. It will take a lot of tries before your child accepts the food again.

    What To Do?

Although your toddler seemed to be picky of her food at this time, make sure to offer nothing but healthy foods. A balanced diet is very important to ensure the health of your child. With all the nutritious food you are giving her, let her make her food choices, even if it’s mixed food. And when she got her choices, your toddler will enjoy eating more.

There will be days that your child would eat more than usual or otherwise, don’t panic this is normal. Your child’s appetite is not the same everyday, if she doesn’t want to eat more don’t force for her. Children should eat until they’re full and then they stop eating. Also observe your child’s liquid intake, the more she drinks, the more she’ll get full. Because of this, your child will lose appetite for healthy solid food.

Since toddlers have small tummies, they get hungry and they get full so fast. They need to eat most of the time or as often as possible probably every 3 hours gap, serving at least 3 meals a day including 2-3 snacks. Remember, having a routine for mealtime is a great way for your child to learn eating discipline. Give your child a meal and snacks around the same time each day and serve it in the table or in a high chair. It will be more fun for baby if you can sit and eat with her at the same time!

    IDEAL MEALTIME ROUTINE

    • As the saying goes, “A family that eats together, stays forever”. Eating together about the same time each day.
    • Eating in a special place like dining table or high chair for meals and snacks.
    • In order to eat clean and healthy, don’t forget to wash hands before eating.
    • Avoid eating meals or snacks in front of the t.v.
    • Eating time is family time, make mealtime fun, talk with your child.
    • Give your child healthy snacks in between meals.
    • Let baby eat whatever everybody eats in the family. Your toddler can now enjoy many of the food you eat just make sure it’s cut in small pieces, easy to chew and to swallow.
    • Avoid giving sweets or candies as a substitute for the food not eaten.
    • Let your child try some new food, offer it along with the food she already likes. She might not want it at first but if you keep offering it again after some time she will soon learn to like it.
    • Allow your child to watch you eat and enjoy the food. Through this she might be convinced to try and eat the same food as what you’re eating.

    LEARNING THROUGH THE MESS

Making a mess is part of growing up among toddlers. They learn as they explore and discover things that they can do on their own, this helps to their growth and development. Toddlers make a lot of mess every time they eat,  they are true messy eaters. When your child begins to eat with her fingers and trying to imitate you using spoon or fork, food goes everywhere and mostly ends up to waste.

TIPS OR HACKS YOU CAN TRY

Some strategies might work for you so that cleaning up won’t be a lot of work and will be lot more easier.

    1. If baby is inside the house and the environment’s temperature is not cold, you can let her eat without any clothes (only diaper). Through this you won’t have to change her clothes all the time she makes a mess, you just have to clean her and dress up.
    2. Cover the floor around the high chair with some plastic sheets or old newspaper.
    3. Give your child a short handle spoon, an empty plastic bowl and a plastic cup so that they could pretend and practice on how to eat and drink.
    4. Make some finger foods that are cut into small pieces or small cubes like fresh or canned fruits, cheese, hard-boiled eggs or cereals.

    MAKE EATING SAFE FOR BABY

    feeding your toddler

Your child might hurt her mouth or even choke with the food she eats. It is your responsibility to be aware of the food she puts in her mouth and so it is best to know which food are safe and unsafe for your child.

Watch for these certain food that could choke baby: Nuts, crackers, chips, whole grapes, popcorn, whole kernel corn, raw vegetables like carrots, candies, raisins, cherries, hotdogs, sausage etc.

Or some of these that could hurt baby’s mouth: Drinks with straws, fruit slices, hard and long candies, popsicles on stick, french fries, bread or pretzel sticks, corn chips etc.

Teach your child early disciplinary routine about proper eating. It is best to make her seat in the high chair or eat in the table during meal or snack time. In this way she could eat safe without any harm of choking from playing and or running around. Also offer baby water for drinking in between meals, it is the best drink she could have rather than giving her milk or juice.

    REMEMBER:

Talk to your child’s doctor if your baby develops any signs of food allergies.

When my baby turned one year old, she began to learn to eat on her own and through my experience these tips worked well and proven effective for me and my baby. I hope that these will give you some ideas on how to feed your toddler. If you have more tips or ideas, feel free to comment below!

  • Christmas Book of Stories: A Sister’s Love

Christmas Book of Stories: A Sister’s Love

Happy Holidays valued readers! Indeed, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, it’s almost Christmas day! It’s the time of the year again where we treasure the moments of being together with our family and friends. The best present to have is to be with the most important people we cared so much and dearly love.  Today on the blog, one loving sister shared her story of love for her little brother. This story is inspired by true events happened during christmas season long time ago. First story in our Christmas book stories presents a sister’s love.

When is your most unforgettable Christmas?

Life always brings me memories either a good one or a bad one. I have experienced a lot of good things that stayed in my memories, but there’s one negative experience that I will never forget because when it happened, it left me a scar on my heart.  It was when something very unexpected happened to one of the members of my family. It affected me a lot because I just love and care for my whole family and if I can only know that a bad thing is going to happen I would rather go through that than any of them.

A few years ago before Christmas, one of my brothers got an accident when he was probably 5 years old. He fell in the chair and hit his head on a table. We were eating dinner in the afternoon, at that moment my mom and I suddenly screamed, I was sitting next to her when that happened, and I quickly got up. The next thing I saw was my brother’s face covered with blood. I got really scared I did not know what to do. Seeing my brother lying down on the floor like if he was dead was the worst experience in my life. My mom immediately got up and started to give aid to him. Then my mom told me to get some towel and used it to clean his face, but he couldn’t stop bleeding. My mom and I were the only ones at home that time and to make things worse the hospital was very far away from the village where we lived, two hours away to be exact. I felt like I got paralyzed and just started to cry for my brother. Then my mom told me to call my uncle George.  Uncle George was the only one who was kind enough to help and who lived close to our house. So I called and told him what happened to my brother and he did all what he could to get to us as soon as possible. My uncle was very helpful and told us to calm down and that he was going to take care of the situation and he drove us to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital my mom was holding my brother’s wound, hoping it would help stop the bleeding. It felt as if the road was endless because it took us forever to get to the hospital. It was getting late at night when we finally got there and my brother went to the emergency room. We had to wait in the waiting room until the doctor came to us to tell us that my brother was going to get a surgery. In that moment, I thought why him? he was just a kid; I would rather go through all that pain than him. A lot of thoughts came to my mind, I looked at my mom and the only thing I could see was the sadness in her face.

Hours and hours went by, that just made us feel desperate because we really wanted to know how the surgery went. It took the doctors 5 hours to complete the surgery. After that, the doctor came to us with the good news that my brother was going to be fine and that he would be recovering in a couple of days. All of us were so happy to hear that and two days later the doctor discharged him from the hospital.

Even though this memory is not a positive one, I see it as positive thing because it makes me appreciate life much more. This lesson that life gave me, taught me to never take life for granted. The feeling that we felt, that we almost lost him was the worst feeling that I ever felt in my life but the moment I saw him recover from this accident I felt like the most happiest person on earth because nothing else mattered to me than my brother’s health. Now I feel very blessed to see him grow healthy and happy but most importantly very thankful to God for giving him another opportunity to live and be with us now and let us share good moments and create good memories together. This has been the most unforgettable Christmas ever!

  • How Important It is To Have 8 Hours Good Night Sleep

How Important It is To Have 8 Hours Good Night Sleep

    8 Hours Good Night Sleep

It is a widely known fact that sleep is an important factor in the lives of people, just like eating healthy and exercising regularly. It comes with no surprise that every individual takes this seriously, considering that everyone starts a day with a certain goal in mind. This is a well followed advise that comes from doctors who recommend a total of eight hours of sleep because the fact is, eight hours of sleep indeed boost one’s productivity, improves one’s health and overall quality of life.

    Effects of Lack of Sleep

Every once in awhile, at nine o’clock in the morning a student walks in sluggishly in English class, room 121. Some struggle to enter the room as if  carrying a bag full of rocks and slamming their books on the table, others push open the door sipping coffee from a starbucks cup. People rather compromise sleep for countless of reasons such as procrastinating, leaving homework for the last minute before the day of school or getting off late from work, family responsibilities, etc. The point is, these circumstances can greatly interfere with productivity and can lead to severe consequences.

A person who does not get enough sleep the night before showing up to class will likely just doze off during an important lecture, or just have a hard time concentrating on taking notes during a film, looking tired and yawning a lot is definitely not a good impression. The lack of energy can lead a person to feel irritable, distracted and daydreaming which leads a person to find an escape that can make the class tolerable. One just does not have the willingness to do anything else, except think of that comfy bed waiting patiently at home.

The body feels tired for the rest of the day until 9 pm when again the mind snaps out of that shade for awhile and feels awake again but by then it is already late and the body is drained out of that energy fast because it is not well rested. Five hours of sleep or less is never enough for the body to recover from stressful busy days that is why people who do not get enough sleep always feel exhausted which leads to low performance on daily activities.

Benefits of Complete 8 Hours Sleep

There are so many great benefits of getting eight hours of sleep and one of those is the impact that it creates on one’s health. A good sleep the night before a presentation will act as a protective shield against pessimistic thoughts, or anything that might try to intrude the brain to trick it to act accordingly. This is why teachers recommend students to be well rested before a test because getting enough sleep can actually improve one’s memory.

Other great benefits of getting a good night sleep include, less likely to gain weight, rejuvenates, and decreases risk of heart disease and other dangerous illness. Breaking the routine of late night sleeping is something that one must do in order to get the most out of life because the lack of sleep might just be the one thing that could cut a good portion of someone’s life and longevity. Sleep gives the body the opportunity to reboot; the brain gets a chance to store every bit of information from the day before, and it also gives it a chance to catch up and freshen up for the next day. Shutting the eyes for at least 8 hours or so might just be the key to a much healthier body and mind.

    8 Hours Good Night Sleep

A good night sleep should definitely be endorsed. This is the one thing that almost everyone neglects and it is the one that matters the most because clearly a poor night’s rest leads to nothing good. We encounter numerous of obstacles in our daily lives and we wonder why it is so hard to find a solution. The mind gets blurry, the bones get heavy and it becomes hard to even take a step forward. All these things that can get in the way when trying to accomplish a goal. It is important to pause for a second, take a deep breath and get a good night sleep.

  • Inspiring Life Quotes from Mitch Albom’s 2018 Book: The Next Person You Meet in Heaven

Inspiring Life Quotes from Mitch Albom’s 2018 Book: The Next Person You Meet in Heaven

the next person you meet in heaven book cover

    Publisher’s Note:

In this enchanting sequel to the number one bestseller The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Mitch Albom tells the story of Eddie’s heavenly reunion with Annie—the little girl he saved on earth—in an unforgettable novel of how our lives and losses intersect.

On this new released book of Mitch Albom, I gathered some inspiring quotes that I hope will inspire you about life. I wrote my own reflection and opinion to each of these and I share my thoughts based on my own understanding and belief.

“No story sits by itself. Our lives connect like threads on a loom, interwoven in ways we never realize.”

I believe in the saying everything happens for a reason, people come in your life with a purpose and somehow our lives are connected to each other. Even though we all have our own stories here on Earth, at some point, we meet people in between and touched their lives we never thought we did. Like a thread woven in a fabric, we make real life stories together and be a part of each other’s lives.

“The tale of your life is written second by second, as shifting as the flip of a pencil to an eraser. There are so many times our lives are altered invisibly. The flip of a pencil, from written to erased.””

Making decisions is the most critical responsibility of being a human. We make our own tales depending on the decisions we make, whether it’d be good or bad, the result is the path we choose to take. It could lead you to success or regrets, rewards or loss, just like a pencil starting to draw the dream into reality or an eraser that would make that bright future disappear.

“ The disarming power of children: their need makes you forget your own.”

Motherhood is a journey where I begin to understand the value of being a woman. Words aren’t enough to describe the true joy and the unconditional love I have for my baby. I feel so grateful everyday that I was blessed to take care of a new life that came into this world out of love and from my own flesh and body. I love her more than I love myself, it’s the nature of being a parent. With the love I have for my baby, I provide everything she needed, her satisfaction is very important than anything else. I would say, being a parent is selfless, our children’s needs are the most priority that we tend to forget our own.

“First loves often remain in the heart, like plants that cannot grow in sunlight.”

Just exactly how the word describe itself, that was when you first experienced anything that makes your heart beats differently, something like a romantic feeling. The feeling usually stays even without you noticing, just like a seed that stays there planted within you.

“All children keep secrets. All parents do the same. We mold the version we want others to believe, boosting the disguise and tucking away the truth. It is how we can be loved by our closest family members and still, at times elude them.”

Who knew us better than ourselves, right? This particular quote made me asked myself why can’t we just be ourselves and be a living proof of truth? Why is it very natural for us to cover the flaws of our real identity in front of someone other than ourselves? Adulthood is more complicated than childhood therefore secrets are definitely harder to handle than keeping a child secret. Most often, whenever adults try to keep the secret as secret as possible, the cause will be a lie, one lie after another.  We try to be the other version of ourselves so others will believe and see us differently than who we truly are even though it already takes away our self truth.

“The wrongs we do open doors to do right.”

We learn from our mistakes and through falling, we learn how to stand and get back on our own feet again. Second chances are opportunity to not make the same mistakes again but to do all things right.

“Love comes when you least expect it. Love comes when you most need it. Love comes when you are ready to receive it or can no longer deny it. Love comes when it comes.”

Love comes in mysterious ways and I believe it’s also fate or destiny. Love is so magical and powerful. Although it comes in different ways, there’s one thing I am sure of, it is undeniably the most valuable thing that we all deserve, to love and to be loved.

“Loss is as old as life itself. But for all our evolution, we are yet to receive it.”

Life is fragile, life is uncertain. We were born and we live our years of existence but yet we shall return where we came from, from dust and soil. It is inevitable, we are human beings and our lives are not our own. As who and what we are, each of us has their end of time. We shall experience loss and suffer from sorrow and grief, it’s part of life and we are yet to receive it whether we like it or not.

“If you truly love someone, you’ll find a way back.”

True love is rare to find, no matter how hard it is, you’ll find a way to get to the person who you truly care for. True love can move mountains even to the most impossible ways just to be with that person who you want to be in your life.

“You lose something everyday you live , sometimes it’s as tiny as the breath you just expelled, sometimes it’s so big you think you won’t survive it.”

Little things are most often neglected and unnoticed just like how we exhale air everyday. It is indeed a fact that we lose something everyday, as simple and as practical of this example but real loss for me is grief and suffering. It is the hardest struggle you needed to get through in life, you move on or live with it.

the next person you meet in heaven
I am a big fan of Mitch Albom’s type of writing and I’m glad I have read again another sequel of one of his famous books. I always feel positive towards life after I read his stories about heaven, it inspires me to be good and be a kind soul to every living here on Earth and make my life more meaningful by touching  the lives of others. I hope I have provided you a little bit of inspiration and if you do have your own thoughts about each of the quotes I listed here, please feel free to comment and let me know your opinions.

How time flies so fast, I was just reminding myself about the posts my husband and I made when our baby was born last year, from her birth story, we wrote the post celebrating last year’s thanksgiving to her first outdoor adventure and to her most unforgettable pictorials or photoshoots.  And now our baby Mia is now a toddler, just wow what a wonderful year had it been! On September 19’ 2018, Mia celebrated her first birthday, she was officially ONE year old! It’s time to reflect on Mia’s first year, time to look back on each of her milestones and reminisce those memories of her youngest year.

Baby Mia’s Monthly Journey to First Year of Life

“For this Child we prayed and the Lord has granted the desires of our Hearts” 1 Samuel 1:27

    September 2017:

After 14 hours of labor, through a normal delivery, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl, named Baby Mia Paris. She was a small baby like a preemie, weighing only 5 lbs and 6 oz. She got big eyes and a very thick hair, curly like her Pappi.

Mia’s first day at home was when she was 3 days old. Auntie’s got her welcome banner and a balloon! The day after being at home was her first appointment with her pediatrician followed by laboratory appointments after she was diagnosed with infant jaundice. Although it was a tough beginning for Mia, we had to do photo-therapy for a day in the hospital. After then, the Dr. advised us to see a cardiologist since she noticed an unusual sound in Mia’s heartbeat. But all went well, after all the clinic appointments, Mia got all cleared! Thank God for after all, she is a healthy baby!

Mia, one week old, weighed 6 lbs. & 2.5 oz.. By this time her belly button started to fell off, yay such a special day!

“A moment in my Tummy, a Lifetime in Our Hearts”

    October 2017:

The first month was the most critical yet the most exciting month for all of us even for Baby Mia too. There were a lot of new exciting experiences of our baby that made our days so special, indeed all of it were always unforgettable. Finally, Mia’s official birth certificate was released 2 weeks after birth. First nurse home visit, first bath tub arrived, first full bath, first outdoor adventure: first visit to the park: Lake Temescal, Oakland, first sleepover with grandparents, first stroller and carrier arrived and celebrated Mia’s 1st Month birthday! She got her birthday cupcakes made especially by Auntie and got some presents from relatives too!

At the end of this month, Mia grew 2 lbs more and she weighed 8 lbs and an ounce!

“All of God’s grace in one tiny face!”

    November 2017:

First Halloween! Mia got her first pumpkin this month! No trick or treating yet but Mia really enjoyed the following occasion, Thanksgiving! Mia’s first thanksgiving was such a joyful celebration with family and relatives. One of kind celebration for we have a lot of things to be thankful for this year, above all those things was the biggest blessing we received and that’s having Mia in our lives. After the night of thanksgiving, everyone in the family packed up for another adventure and Mia visited Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and strolled in the beautiful scenery of Sawyer Camp Trail.

Final weight of baby  this month was 8 lbs and 9 oz. Growing and growing each single day!

“You have to hold her up to see the angel on the Christmas tree

And even though she’s still too small to know the meaning of it all,

You watch her eyes reflect the glow of colored lights that come and go.

And feel her quiver with delight at every new and wondrous sight.

There’s Santa with his jolly face, beaming from the fireplace

And from the stocking hanging there, peeks a cuddly teddy bear!

She points and grins from ear to ear and then she yawns her bedtime near

Dad gives her a kiss and you tuck her away

to rest up for the fun of her first Christmas Day!”

    December 2017:

First stroll to Uncle’s school to pick him up after class, second monthly appointment with pedia and vaccinations due this month. Celebrated baby’s 3rd Month Birthday and Mia met Santa for the first time! Baby got her first DIY dresser, customized paint and waxed by Mommy and Pappi.

Mia’s First Christmas! A sweet special moment for us all. With all the decors we have in our home, the christmas lights and the christmas tree, with family and friends, we had the merriest Christmas celebration this year.

Our sweet dearie grew into a 10 lbs and 9 oz baby, 22.5 inches by height!

Fall 2018, October- pumpkin patch time! First pumpkin patch was a success! Mia was in the perfect mood to play in the hay and touched the pumpkins. This year, we visited Larry’s Produce in Fairfield, California to take Mia in her first ever pumpkin patch. We went in the opening hour of the farm, at 9 in the morning. It was a perfect day, the sun was up but the heat was just fine, the surrounding felt cool and what we were most grateful for was that there was no crowd, the place was perfect for Mia’s pumpkin patch photoshoot.

Larry’s Produce has variety of pumpkins, different kinds in different sizes, small to the biggest! Also they have wide selection of fruits and vegetables in the cheapest price, even cheaper when you harvest direct from the farm. When we arrived in the place, we were welcomed by a giant chicken display surrounded by numerous pumpkins. Mia looked so amazed by the gigantic chicken, her eyes widened as she stared long in  it. The pumpkins were in big containers and long carts but the biggest ones were scattered in the ground and on top of tractors or pile of hays. Mia enjoyed sitting in the ground, she played with the hay and hit the pumpkins as hard as she could. We had a great time taking her photos with the pumpkins!

Mia also had lots of fun playing in the corn kernel shed area and riding a kid’s tractor near the pyramid of hay. After we’re done with Mia’s photoshoot, we didn’t miss the chance to get a family photo! Indeed another milestone had been greatly achieved!

How about you, where did you celebrate pumpkin patch this year?
